Visiting the Paxton Pits photography exhibition

Sandy Photography Club enjoyed visiting the Paxton Pits photography exhibition at St Neots Museum last week, and were delighted to be shown the full range of competition entries – our thanks to Peter Hagger for the invitation, and thank you also to Liz Davies, Curator at St Neots Museum for organising the evening and for the excellent refreshments!

We were pleased to have the opportunity to speak with other photographers from Friends of Paxton Pits, and St Neots U3A, and hope this will be the start of further co-operation and competition in a friendly atmosphere.

Please follow our news on facebook and the website, and be ready for another great event we will be announcing soon!

All the best to you!

Happy Faces of Sandy – Afterwards

Happy Faces of Sandy - Afterwards

Dear Members of Sandy Photography Club,

Firstly, I would like to say a big thank you to Gina, Jamie, Mary and Jenny for all your help at the Sandy Carnival event. I will be publishing the results of the project very soon.

In spite of the wind and rain, we had a lot of fun and can say it was another successful event for our Club, where Jamie and Jenny played leading roles as photographers for the Happy Faces of Sandy project.

Gina’s work has been priceless as only she could handle the administration and assistant’s work!

Mary was involved as equipment manager helping put up the gazebo and providing seating, and most importantly, donuts!

Carlos found the flashlights a challenge, positioning the light not necessarily in the right direction – but he tried!

All members of SPC would like to say a huge thank you to Kristeen Burton and the Sandy Carnival Committee for their invitation to include us at the event as part of Sandy community. We are most appreciative and enjoyed participating on the day and meeting so many different people and characters.

The event went well, and we were pleased that families wanted to join in our fun, having their portraits taken, and capturing precious moments in their life.

All the best to you πŸ™‚

Workshop XVIII – Wide Angle in B&W

Dear Photography Lovers!

We have another workshop ahead! This time, we will get much better pictures using different techniques.
Firstly, we will practice the composition elements using wide angle lenses, and then getting correct exposure in black and white camera settings mode.

We plan to meet this time on TUESDAY evening, 20 August, at 6.00pm in Great Barford (MK44 3LQ, near All Saints Church).
We are planning to catch the “golden hours” before sunset at 8.15pm, playing with the shadows and new perspective.

Please bring with you lenses with focal lens less than 35mm, together with tripod/monopod.

Please, could you let me know if you are able to come, and if you would like a lift.

Can’t wait to see you all again!

This invitation is open to new members – please feel free to come along.

Happy Faces of Sandy – Announcement

photography event will be at Sandy Carnival!

Everyone is welcome to take part in this event at Sandye Place Academy on Saturday 8 June.
Sandy Photography Club’s project will be to capture a historical snapshot of the many happy faces of Sandy – we did a similar project last year at the ‘Party on Potton’ Big Weekend, with great success.
An on-site photo studio with backdrop and lighting will be set up to take portrait photographs of individuals, families or friends which can be emailed to participants.
This event will give SPC an opportunity to integrate further with the local community, promoting the club, and demonstrating the enjoyment of photography.
The images taken at Sandy Carnival will be used to create an exhibition, and will also be published on SPC’s website and social media community groups. Following the Carnival, the intention is that SPC will set up local exhibitions for the public, at venues in Sandy and surrounding towns/villages.

If you would like to become a member of SPC and learn about portrait photography, using our equipment, you would be more than welcome to come and meet and talk with us at this event.

Carlos Santino, SPC’s founder member, as a professional photographer, will be directing and supporting the photo shoot sessions.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with us.

All the best to you πŸ™‚

Workshop XVII – Looking for Spring in Macro 2

Dear SPC Members and Friends,

I am pleased to let you know that, as photographers, we are similar to birds – especially early birds!
We cannot miss the opportunity to get even better photos based on our previous experience.
We will meet on Saturday 11 May at Moggerhanger Park in the car park (postcode: MK44 3RW) at 7.30am.
This time definitely we need tripods, extension tubes, macro lens, coffee, and a lot of patience!

Please make sure your camera’s battery is fully charged, and don’t forget your memory card.

I cannot wait to see your smiling, happy faces!

All the best to you πŸ™‚
