Workshop XXIII – Night Sky with SAS

Dear Friends and Members of SPC πŸ™‚

I have agreed with Sandy Astronomical Society that we could join them during their public viewing event on Thursday 19th March.
However, this is all weather dependant – I will be advised by SAS on the day whether this will go ahead or not.

We are setting up our Workshop XXIII at 6pm at Blunham Playing Fields (MK44 3ND) – please let me know if you are planning to come along. Regardless of the weather, I will be there at 6pm, to check the field for potential future events. If it’s raining, we can go to the pub and review previous photos from previous tasks. Please upload your photos by 9pm on Wednesday 18th March, or bring them on memory stick.

You will definitely need to bring tripod; any lens would be ok, but preferably wide angle; and remote control if you have it. If not, we can use the delay option on your camera. Plus warm clothes and beer money!

You can see more information about SAS on their website:

I have got more news… and I cannot wait to see you again!

All the best to you!

Workshop XXII – Recce for Race

Dear Members and Friends of SPC,

I am happy to announce another workshop in our Club – Recce for Race.
This time we will visit surrounding areas to find the best spot for best shot! I know this sounds very enigmatic, however we are going to spend another 2-4 hours together doing photography and finish at a nice place with cup of nice drink.

This time we will meet at Sandy Library on Saturday, 8th Feb 2020 at 9.45am and then we will do the trip around.
I will prepare maps and directions.
Before we start we will have a little chat about what is being proposed, and we will review photos and discuss in more detail at our next General Meeting.
This will also be a good opportunity to take shots for Task 11!
All the best to you πŸ™‚

Workshop XXI – Sunrise in Beds

Workshop, another photography workshop we are looking for.

This time of the year there is very a good chance that we can catch sun rise at a ‘normal’ time.Β  Not 3am, but after 8am!
Can you miss that opportunity to see an amazing winter sunrise in Bedfordshire and capture it into your special box [called a camera!]?
What do you think about this?
If yes, let’s meet on Saturday 21 December at 6.45am at Sainsbury’s, Biggleswade (just off the A1) in the overflow car park – you need to go through the petrol station to get to itΒ  –Β  see map attached.

You will need to bring tripod, various lenses, photo filters, thermos of hot drink, and warm clothes! If you have any questions, let me know.
Afterwards, we can visit a local cafe/coffee shop for breakfast.

All the best to you πŸ™‚

Workshop XX – Remembrance Day in Models

Dear Sandy Photography Club Members and Friends,
Remembrance Day is the time to reflect on the past, on history, and those people who never come back from war time conflict.
We remember them in November, but there people who constantly think how to make the world better based on past events.
There are many details from history, and these are beautifully captured by an enthusiastic hobbyist who has been working for months, years, bringing the memory of these days to reality.
I have recently met Lee, a very interesting person, who recreates war time scenes in miniature, and documents the scene he is creating, from scenography to the details of equipment.

We as photographers would also like to capture all these moments of history. This is an opportunity to join many passionate people together to tell the stories. Let’s catch these pieces of history by making a photographic documentary of his work.

On this Workshop, we will focus on macro photography, composition and light to get the best scene.
Again, we will use tripods, macro lenses, tubes, etc.
We will meet on Sunday 24 November at 9.30am outside Sandy Library, and then go together to the venue in Potton.
This will be a maximum group of 5 people – please let me know as soon as possible if you wish to attend, by 20 November latest.
This will be on a first come, first served basis. The Workshop will take about 3-4 hours – afterwards, we could go for lunch in a local pub.
All the best to you πŸ™‚
